About our Association
Gotas de agua’s vision is to achieve social justice through education and support of self-help. We execute projects that offer education and capacity building of high quality in order to impart knowledge as well as values of justice, responsibility, tolerance and respect. For this purpose, we build, manage and/or support educational centers.
Our objective is that young people are prepared to use their potential and possibilities in a positive way and will deploy their capabilities purposefully in the long run.
The association has been given a Spanish name due to the current focus of Gotas de agua’s work in Latin America. Gotas de agua means waterdrops.
It symbolizes our work: we carry out projects on soils that we know are fertile. What is missing is the right irrigation. A single drop may vanish, too many can drown the flower. Our task is to provide the appropriate amount of water droplets at the right place so that a project can thrive and produce new fruits for the future.
We do not distribute the fruits, but prepare the environment in which they, in the end without us, will thrive.
Gotas de agua’s branch in Peru
At the general meeting on 19 November 2011, the Swiss club decided to amend its statutes so that branches of Gotas de agua could be opened abroad. The reason for this was the request of the board of the community Raucana to Gotas de agua to carry out a training project on their own piece of land in their community.
On February 24th 2012, Gotas de agua – Sucursal Lima, Perú has been registered in the Public Registry in Peru as a branch of the Swiss association. The branch operates projects locally within the framework prescribed by the Swiss association. On 31st July 2012, Gotas de agua has been recognized as an international cooperation organization by the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI).
